昨日、冬のオリンピックが開幕しましたね。ついこの前、東京オリンピックが終わったばかりかと思いましたが、そういえば開幕が一年延期してました。それにしてもあれから半年…早いものです。
2008年の北京オリンピックは、思い出があります。私は2001年から2007年まで前の会社では香港に駐在してました。丁度、北京オリンピックが開幕する直前で、この前の東京オリンピックの時のように、香港も賑わってました。駐在していた時に、中国語を字幕を見なくとも理解できるように勉強すると、あの時は熱心に勉強していました。
しかし、オリンピックを待たずに帰任。やはり現地にいないと勉強も捗りません。しばらくは海外事業部にいたため、少しは中国語に触れる機会もありましたが、日常的に使うということはなくなりました。
やはり何かを成し遂げるためには、その場に合った必然的にできる環境が必要かと思います。そうすれば、成し遂げやすい。配達の移動中に音声学習をしてますが、環境を整えることの大事さは、何度も耳にしています。
仕事でも何かを成し遂げるために、ビジネスチャンスは待っていても向こうから来ないと思います。視覚、嗅覚を使い、仕事に繋がりそうなところにいかに身を置くかが大事だと思います。でも、コロナだと本当に難しいなあ。動かない人と差をつけるチャンスと考えてがんばります。
さぁて、オリンピックでは、高梨沙羅のジャンプ、カーリング、羽生結弦、金メダル目指してがんばれ！！

Yesterday, the Winter Olympics started. I thought that the Tokyo Olympics had just finished a few days ago, but it turned out that the opening was postponed for a year. But it’s been half a year since then….
I have fond memories of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I was stationed in Hong Kong in my previous company from 2001 to 2007. It was just before the opening of the Beijing Olympics, and Hong Kong was as crowded as it was during the last Tokyo Olympics. When I was stationed in Hong Kong, I studied Chinese so that I could understand it without seeing the subtitles, and I studied hard at that time.
However, I didn’t wait for the Olympics to return home. After all, you can’t make progress in your studies unless you are there. For a while I was working in the overseas department, so I had some opportunities to use Chinese, but I didn’t use it on a daily basis anymore.
I think that in order to achieve something, you need an environment where you can do it in a way that is appropriate and inevitable. That way, it’s easier to get things done. I do my audio studies on the road, and I’ve heard time and time again how important it is to create the right environment.
In order to achieve something at work, I believe that business opportunities don’t come to you by waiting for them to come to you. I think it’s important to use your sense of sight and smell, and to put yourself in places where you can find work. But it’s really difficult to do that in Corona. I think it’s a chance to make a difference to people who don’t move.
Now, in the Olympics, Sara Takanashi’s jumping, curling, Yuzuru Hanyu, go for the gold medal!
